Luningning Go
Bakeshop Entrepreneur

Late 70’s, Jo-ni’s Bakeshop, simply started as a common bakeshop that caters to every Filipino who loves sweets and treats. It was wholly owned by the Go family. The name of the company came from the couple’s names, Jonel and Luningning Go. Jo for Jonel and Ni for Luningning.

It was Luningning Go who had the passion for baking. She and her husband came up with the idea of taking her passion to the next level. They ventured into the baking industry. Luckily, their business became a hit in the early 80’s until late 90’s. They became the all-time Filipino favorite bakeshop in no time. Mocha cakes, ensaymada, and pies were among the best-selling products. Later on, they decided to include Filipino cuisines on their menu which made Jo-ni’s more popular than others.  Year by year, the company enlarged its field of operation throughout Metro Manila and some parts of Luzon. The company also made it to the states of Hawaii and California.

Unfortunately, in the year 1998, the main branch of Jo-ni’s Bakeshop in Sta. Cruz, Manila got burned down, which started the decline of the business.

As of today, only one branch remains, which is now known as “The Cafe”. It is located at 832 A. Arnaiz Ave. cor. Paseo de Roxas, Makati City.

The Café

The Cafe is owned and operated by the daughter of Jonel and Luningning Go, of the same Go family that owned Jo-ni's. The Cafe is surrounded by high-rise condominiums, busy malls, noisy restaurants and bars, and office buildings. It serves traditional Filipino home-cooking at its best, including the old classics of Joni's, like pancit palabok. The Café guarantees excellent service.
